Adrienne
The Money Conversation was born out of Lise’s own lesson about investing.

Fifteen years ago, with 2 small children, Lise and her husband James each put £30,000 into an ISA. James chose a Stocks & Shares ISA. Lise, overwhelmed by life and wary of what felt “too complicated,” went for a Cash ISA.

Fast forward to 2023. James’s ISA had grown to £207,000. Lise’s? Less than half.
That penny drop moment sparked The Money Conversation. Too many people leave investing in the “too hard” basket, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We are here to unravel the jargon, make investing clear and accessible, and help people build the financial confidence and security they deserve.
Adrienne ran a party shop in South West London for many years, selling balloons and all things festive. During Covid, she and Lise connected on Instagram and became friends.

When Adrienne later closed her shop, a coffee with Lise turned into an idea: to help midlife women feel confident about money and investing.

Coming in as a complete beginner, Adrienne wasn’t afraid to ask the “silly” questions. That fresh perspective now helps shape The Money Conversation’s mission:
empowering one million midlife women to start investing.
Reasons Why Midlifers Put Investing in the ‘Too Hard’ Basket
I'm Too Busy
Between juggling kids, older parents needing support, a job, the home, partners, exercise and all the other midlife noise, who has time to learn about UK investment platforms?
The reality: Learning how to invest in stocks and shares ISAs takes less time than your weekly food shop - and the knowledge lasts decades.
I'm Too Scared, Investing Is “Risky”
What if you make an expensive investing mistake? Cash ISAs and savings feel safer even when they're not keeping up with inflation. The fear of losing money in the UK stock market feels overwhelming when you're already worried about bills and mortgages.
The reality: Not investing is the biggest risk - inflation quietly steals your purchasing power every year because the interest in savings accounts doesn’t keep up with the rate of inflation.
I'm Too Old to Start Investing
Investing feels like something for younger people. Why bother learning about UK investment platforms when retirement is getting closer? Surely it's too late for compound interest and long-term investment strategies to make any meaningful difference to your financial future?
The reality: You likely have 20-30 years until retirement - that's decades for your money to grow in stocks and shares ISAs. Midlife brings wisdom and steady income that younger investors lack.
I Don't Have Extra Money for UK Investment Accounts
Every penny goes on mortgages, household expenses, and the children. There's nothing left over for stocks and shares ISAs or investment platforms. You need thousands to start investing.
The reality: You can start investing with any amount - it doesn't matter how much you put in. Little and often is a great way to begin. What matters is that you started.

But this programme has given me the confidence to just start, I know my future self will be so glad i did. The lessons are in bite size chunks so not overwhelming and packed with actionable advice delivered in real speak wish a dash of humour. Best £20 I’ve spent all year!
